Touching Our Spiritual Roots: Learn Vietnamese with To Be Vietnamese

Have you ever wished to read Thầy’s calligraphy in its original language, understand the deep meaning behind the chants, or connect more closely with the cultural roots of our practice?
With gratitude and joy, we would like to invite you to participate in a new community initiative called To Be Vietnamese—a free online learning community where Vietnamese and international practitioners come together to learn, practice, and build friendship through the Vietnamese language, culture, and the teachings of our beloved Thầy.
More than a language course, To Be Vietnamese is a living community of practice. Together, we learn, practice, and touch our spiritual roots. Every Vietnamese word becomes a seed of understanding, every shared story nourishes compassion, and every friendship helps us build our beloved Plum Village community.
Whether you know no Vietnamese at all or have already begun your learning journey, you are warmly welcome.
Throughout a 10-week journey, participants will learn practical Vietnamese while exploring Vietnamese culture, Plum Village vocabulary, and selected readings from Thầy's books, poems, gāthās, and teachings.
Every participant will be paired with a Vietnamese learning companion, creating opportunities to practice conversation, share stories, ask questions, and cultivate genuine friendships across cultures. Together, we will discover that learning a language can itself become a practice of mindfulness.
