Invitation to Volunteer for the To Be Vietnamese Project
Dear Beloved Vietnamese Sangha,

With gratitude and joy, we would like to invite you to participate in a new community initiative called To Be Vietnamese—a free online learning community where Vietnamese and international practitioners come together to learn, practice, and build friendship through the Vietnamese language, culture, and the teachings of our beloved Thầy.

During the recent retreat celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Order of Interbeing at Plum Village, many international practitioners expressed a heartfelt aspiration to learn Vietnamese—not only to communicate more easily with Vietnamese friends, but also to touch more deeply the spiritual and cultural roots from which our tradition has grown.

This beautiful aspiration has inspired the birth of To Be Vietnamese.

We warmly invite Vietnamese practitioners to support this project by serving as volunteer tutors or learning companions.

You do not need to be a professional language teacher. What matters most is your willingness to share your language, your culture, your experience of practice, and your heart.

As a volunteer, you may:
• Facilitate or assist with weekly online sessions;
• Accompany one or more international practitioners as learning companions;
• Help with Vietnamese conversation and pronunciation;
• Introduce Vietnamese culture and traditions;
• Read and discuss short passages from Thầy's books and teachings together;
• Help create a welcoming and joyful learning community.

This is not simply language teaching.
It is a practice of generosity.
A practice of listening deeply.
A practice of building bridges of understanding across cultures.
Each Vietnamese word you share may become a doorway through which someone discovers a deeper connection with Thầy, with the Dharma, and with our global Sangha.
If you feel inspired to contribute your time and energy, we would be deeply grateful to welcome you into the founding volunteer team.
Together, we can help cultivate a living community where language, culture, mindfulness, and friendship continue to nourish one another.
May this offering contribute to the flourishing of our worldwide Plum Village family.
With gratitude and trust,

The To Be Vietnamese Founding Team
